Your search for an excellent coffee shop in Port Elizabeth ought to start here. After opening their doors in December 2018, Holiday Coffee has managed to create a relaxed and comfortable environment while serving up some fantastic locally-brewed coffee.

The décor of the café has a holiday atmosphere and a variety of cakes are served to complement your cuppa. Holiday Coffee is open Mon – Fri: 6:30 – 16:00 and Sat: 6:30 – 13:00.

Mastertons Coffee

With more than three generations of coffee brewing behind them, Mastertons Coffee has produced more than 22 different blends of coffee. All their coffees are made from Arabica beans and are roasted in small batches in Probat Roasters.

In addition, they obviously want their coffees to be well-preserved as their packaging, with its one-way valve, ensures that the coffee does not go stale.

After staying in Russel Road since 1924, Mastertons has recently moved to Walmer where they have expanded to create a bigger and more welcoming atmosphere.

Hello! It’s Me; no, it’s not the Adele hit, but rather a new vibey restaurant making waves in the city. Hello! It’s Me packs a punch, a healthy punch! Not only do they have an appetising menu, their coffee is also delicious and comes in a wide variety of flavours to try.

The restaurant interior and excellent service must be visited to be truly appreciated. The mix of retro industrial, eclectic artwork, rich woods and hanging plants make for a modern and inviting atmosphere.

Micoffee

An amazing coffee shop that has grown in popularity since Mike Chizeya opened his first shop in Main Road, Walmer, Micoffee has become one of the top go-to coffee shops in Port Elizabeth.

They have become so popular that Mike now has two outlets. Besides the Walmer shop, he also has a coffee shop in Hurd Street in Newton Park.

Micoffee is all about coffee and any tasty morsel found at the counter is just a bonus. Mike has carefully chosen his coffee. It is rich, strong and full on the mouth.

Micoffee’s success is not entirely due to the wonderful coffee, but also to Mike’s happy and pleasant demeanour. If you want to know how to prepare coffee just like Mike and his team, then put your name down for one of their barista courses.

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.
