Premier Hotel Cape Town: The Perfect Base for Exploring the Mother City

Finding the right hotel in Cape Town can make all the difference to a holiday, and after my recent stay at the Premier Hotel Cape Town in Sea Point, I can confidently say that it ticks all the boxes for tourists wanting comfort, convenience and outstanding service.

Location is everything when visiting Cape Town, and the Premier Hotel Cape Town enjoys one of the city’s best. Situated in vibrant Sea Point, the hotel is located directly across the road from the famous promenade, one of Cape Town’s most loved attractions. Whether you’re an early morning jogger, an evening stroller or simply enjoy watching the Atlantic Ocean roll in, the promenade offers endless opportunities to soak up the city’s unique atmosphere.

The hotel is also just a short walk from Sea Point Main Road, home to a delicious array of restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. From artisanal cafés serving exceptional coffee to restaurants offering cuisine from around the world, there is something to satisfy every palate. Better still, an Uber ride to iconic attractions such as Table Mountain or the world-famous beaches of Clifton is surprisingly inexpensive, making the hotel an ideal base for exploring the city.

Service Excellence

Being part of the renowned Premier Hotels & Resorts group, excellent service comes as standard, and this was evident from the moment I arrived. As soon as I pulled up at the entrance I was ushered inside and greeted with genuine warmth by the reception team. First impressions matter, and the hotel certainly started my stay on the right note.

My room was located on the sixth floor and offered a magnificent view of the promenade and the ocean beyond. There is something special about waking up to the sight of the Atlantic stretching into the horizon. The room itself was spacious and equipped with all the amenities one would expect from a quality hotel.

The bathroom gleamed with cleanliness and the shower delivered excellent water pressure—two items that rank highly on my personal checklist when staying away from home. After a long day exploring Cape Town, I slept like the dead thanks to blackout curtains, an exceptionally comfortable mattress and crisp white sheets that invited a deep and uninterrupted night’s sleep.

Great eatery

The dining experience was equally impressive. The restaurant staff were attentive and clearly well trained, striking that perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. For dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed a calamari starter followed by a perfectly cooked medium-rare sirloin steak accompanied by the house red wine—a pairing that rounded off the evening beautifully.

Breakfast the following morning was outstanding. The buffet catered for every taste, offering healthy options alongside traditional English and continental breakfasts. There were also several spicy dishes catering to guests visiting from the East, demonstrating the hotel’s appreciation of its international clientele. Particularly memorable were the croissants: fresh, flaky and wonderfully crisp—the perfect accompaniment to a good cup of coffee.

One aspect of hospitality that often goes unnoticed is how a hotel handles the period after check-out. My transfer was only scheduled for later in the day, but this proved no problem at all. The hotel securely stored my luggage in a safe room, allowing me a few extra hours to explore Sea Point and enjoy the surrounding area without being burdened by bags.

Although my stay took place in the middle of winter, the hotel also features a swimming pool that no doubt becomes a popular spot during Cape Town’s warmer months. For business travellers, the hotel offers several conference facilities, with the largest venue capable of accommodating up to 60 delegates, making it suitable for meetings, workshops and small conferences.

Whether you’re visiting Cape Town for business or leisure, the Premier Hotel Cape Town offers the ideal combination of location, comfort and service. With the promenade on its doorstep, excellent restaurants nearby and easy access to many of Cape Town’s top attractions, it is a hotel that truly allows visitors to experience the best of the Mother City.

Home Food and Travel advice on finding the right accommodation

So what is the right accommodation?  Well more often than not, it’s your travel budget that dictates the type of accommodation that you choose.

Expensive is not always better.  Our team at Home Food and Travel will tell you that they have camped in areas with limited ablutions and had a wonderful holiday.  They have also spent a night in a five star hotel only to be disappointed because their expectations exceeded the experience.

The reason for your travels will also affect your choice.  A business trip requires different amenities to a beach holiday.

Our articles, reviews and experiences can certainly help you make your decision.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.

On the road to great places of accommodation, restaurants, spas and adventure activities

If you’re driving, be safe and make use of all the wonderful farm stalls that populate South Africa’s open roads.

If you overhear somebody asking a lot of questions or see someone taking photos of empty bedrooms chances are it’s one of our Home Food and Travel team members.

We’re out looking or those great places of accommodation, restaurants, spas and adventure activities.

See you on the road!
