The Beach Hotel, is the grand old lady of the Port Elizabeth beach front – grand because she comes with years of good breeding and lady because she is elegant.
This is not one of your in-and-out, hyper efficient and very plain hotels. This is a hotel that offers her guests comfort, relaxation and a pleasurable stay.
Old the hotel may be in style and elegance but not so in amenities. The rooms offer all the conveniences needed in the digital age and the bathrooms positively sparkle with the latest fittings.
Situated on the beautiful Port Elizabeth beach front adjacent to the famous Hobie Beach and Shark Rock Pier, the hotel and its excellent restaurants take full advantage of this great location.
In short, The Beach Hotel offers reasonably-priced quality accommodation, delectable restaurants, a great location as well as excellent 4-Star hospitality.
Personal Experience
The Veranda at The Beach Hotel has, for as long as I can remember, been one of the best places to enjoy a light lunch or a cocktail on the beach front.
The view is superb, the service great and the cocktail menu extensive. I have spent many a wonderful afternoon and evening here.
In my experience The Veranda is a great place for family reunions, relaxing afternoons, after beach refreshments and romantic dinners.
Ginger, The Restaurant is set slightly back from the buzz of the beachfront but still offers a scenic view. This wonderful restaurant offers a fine dining experience.
I love the old fashioned service at Ginger – the welcoming maitre d’, knowledgeable wine steward and excellent waitresses which complement the white linen and sparkling cutlery . The menu, which changes from time to time, is a work of art as is the décor.
The Ginger website offer a perfect description; “The food is a combination of the finest, fresh ingredients that in turn create subtle dishes with distinctive flavours with an Eastern Cape influence.”
Despite the hub-hub of its busy location, The Beach Hotel interior is tranquil and quiet. The lounge has deep couches and soft décor with polite waiters moving between the guests.
The Crest Restaurant is located in the heart of the hotel and offers excellent buffet dinners. Sunday lunch at The Crest is another delightful experience.
I have always enjoyed my stay at The Beach Hotel. The rooms are spacious and quiet and the breakfast, served in The Crest, offers all that is needed to start your day or adventure or corporate interaction.
