Your hosts have also put in place various Covid-19 protocols to ensure your safety during your stay. With a combination of a great location, facilities and amazing hospitality, many of their previous guests had many wonderful things to say about their stays.

Accommodation at Sterkspruit Mountain Haven

Guest accommodation ranges from double en-suite bedrooms to self-catering apartments and open-air camping sites. With four beautifully-furnished bedrooms, the Shalom Manor House is designed for families and groups. It comes with a fully-equipped kitchen with an adjoining dining area; a lounge with full DStv; a laundry room with two washing machines; a lapa with a wood braai; two bathrooms – one en-suite with shower and one bathroom with bath.

The Lemon Room sleeps two people and comes with a Queen-size bed; the Aloe Room and the Palm Room sleeps two in single beds; while the Fern Room sleeps two in a double bed and comes with a cot for a baby.

Meanwhile, the Kiepersol Barn is ideal for corporate outings, team building sessions, church groups and family reunions. While the ground floor is a great hall with an outside braai area and kitchen area, upstairs you will find two en-suite bedroom units. Both sleep four people in each and come furnished with extra-length Queen-size bed and a double sleeper couch.

There are two, one-bedroom self-catering chalets available – the Silver Oaks, which come double beds and can sleep two people. These cottages are fitted with solar power, geysers and kitchen facilities as well as an outside braai area on the patio.

Your choice also includes a Camping Site. It has six 4×4 Caravan sites and six tent camping stands. More camping space can be provided if required. The camping site comes with two ablution facilities each with shower, basin and toilet as well as electrical connections.

Day visitors can also make use of the hiking and biking trails as well as Fanus’s Boma including two ablution facilities each with shower, basin and toilet.

Facilities at Sterkspruit Mountain Haven

Guest facilities include a wedding venue; a conference venue; as well as team-building facilities and swimming pool. Fanus’s Boma can also be used as a braai and party venue. It can seat between 10 to 30 people.

They have picnic areas at the properties grounds and at the waterfalls. Picnic baskets and picnic blankets are available with prior arrangement.

Things to do in Schoemanskloof

There are many walking, hiking and biking trails within reach of Sterkspruit Mountain Haven. Mountain bikers are also welcome. All the trails vary from easy to more strenuous and offer wonderful views and panoramas.

The area is also a birdwatchers paradise. They have up to date identified 12 different bird species at Sterkspruit Mountain Haven!

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
