Accommodation to Ouhout Self-Catering Cottage
Visitors to Ouhout have a choice of two comfortable cottages – Ouhout and Sunflower Cottages. The building that houses the cottages was converted from stables into homely self-catering accommodation in 2017.
Ouhout boasts three comfortable bedrooms all en-suite. One of the bedrooms is a garden unit with its own entrance. Enjoy an open plan lounge with a fireplace for those chilly winter nights.
Sunflower is of equal standard but with only 2 bedrooms. Altogether we can sleep 10 people in beds, we haven’t got mattresses or any alternate sleeping space so can only sleep 10.
Both cottages have a fully-equipped kitchen with a separate scullery gives the cottages a homely feel. There is nothing better than gathering around an outside braai on the veranda and watching the sun set.
In addition, well-socialised dogs are welcome at Ouhout. However, you are required to keep them off the furniture and beds. They must also be on a leash while you explore the farm.
Natal Midlands tourist attractions
Part of Springvale farm was donated to the Bill Barns Crane and Oribi Reserve. There is a bird hide next to the biggest of the three dams. Those wanting to try their hand at fishing, will find the dams stocked with bass.
Just nearby, there are several amazing holiday activities and attractions. Besides its beautiful scenery, the Midlands Meander is also noted for its country restaurants, breweries, chocolate shops and curio shops stocked with everything from ceramics to leather goods, honey to beer and gin from local artisans and artists.
