Eland’s Bay or Elandsbaai is located just two hours north of Cape Town on the beautiful West Coast. This quiet, coastal town has lots to offer visitors – great beach, excellent surfing, and beautiful surroundings. Put it all together and you have a great place to visit. Looking for a place to stay – look no further than Magda’s Beach House.
Magda’s Beach House provides affordable, comfortable self-catering accommodation for a family or group of up to six people.
The house is relatively new and is located just two minutes from the famous Elands Bay surf spot.
Accommodation at Magda’s Beach House
Magda’s Beach House comes with three bedrooms furnished with a Queen-sized bed in two of the bedrooms and two single beds in the third bedroom. All the linen, bedding and towels you might need during your stay are provided.
One of the bedrooms is en-suite (shower and toilet), but there is an additional large bathroom with bath, shower and twin basins. Outside is a hot and cold shower. If you’ve never experienced a hot outdoor shower then you have missed one of life’s great pleasures.
The house has an inside fireplace for those cold winter nights complementing a comfortable open living area and dining space. The dining area has an eight seater table.
The living space leads into a large open-plan kitchen with a breakfast nook. The kitchen is fitted with a gas stove/electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and a kitchen bar counter with four bar stools. It comes with all the cutlery and crockery for a comfortable stay.
Wi-Fi is also available throughout the building.
Facilities at Magda’s Beach House
Facilities at the house include covered parking bays for two vehicles; an outdoor braai area that is covered and protected from the prevailing winds.
Upstairs is an entertainment room boasting sea and mountain views from two balconies with table tennis table and slate-top pool table.
Please note that Magda’s Beach House is dog friendly, but you should bring your own dog blankets and sleeping cushions!
Due to the location and size of the town, it is advisable to bring perishables such as your food, beverages, toiletries, wood, charcoal, blitz, beach towels and other beach gear, mountain bikes etc. There are still a few shops in town.
Elands Bay activities
Magda’s Beach House is a great place to just sit back and relax while admiring the view of the ocean or to catch up on your book or to settle scores over a family board game.
Should you wish to venture out, the obvious attraction in town is surfing. Apparently, in Elands Bay, the waves are not only big but consistent too – hence, it’s a mecca for surfers from all over the country.
However, this does not mean there are no things to do for families. There are caves with Bushman art to explore and in season, you can visit the shallow rocky reefs where you can catch your own crayfish (you’ll need a permit) for the grill or you can visit the local crayfish factories to the south of town.
If needing a more sedate pastime, you can take a stroll along the long stretch of sun-bleached, sandy beach. Or set up along the shores of the Verlorenvlei for some really good birdwatching.
Reviews from Magda’s Beach House guests
“We’ve stayed here on a number of occasions and absolutely love it. Spacious, great value, close to the beach and has everything that you need for a chilled time away. The upstairs games room with outside braai and deck overlooking the sea, makes for a great place to hangout between surfs or walks on the beach,” wrote Lee on their AirBnB page.
Estelle added; “Magdas Beach house was a beautiful home with everything we could want and more. Comfortable and so close to the beach. Definitely the place to stay when visiting Elands Bay.”
