Accommodation at De Zeekoe Guest Farm

De Zeekoe Guest Farm provides Main House, Manor House and Stone Cottage accommodation.

In the Main House, you will find fully-equipped Standard Rooms, which are offered on a Bed & Breakfast basis and are ideal for those stopping over in Oudtshoorn for a night’s rest. The rooms can sleep two people and come with either a Double or Twin Bed.

The Luxury Rooms are spacious – can sleep up to three people and come tastefully-decorated. The luxury rooms open onto cool verandas from where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the stunning Outeniqua and Swartberg mountain ranges.

You can also opt for their Superior Rooms, which can accommodate two adults and a child. Choose between the mountain-facing or garden facing rooms. In either choice, expect large bedrooms with full en-suite bathrooms and some with open-air showers. Luxury living is the byword here with ostrich cushion feathers, Persian carpets and soft lighting to the sandstone tiles in the quaint bathrooms. The rooms even have their own fireplaces.

The Deluxe Rooms feature a private balcony with view over the pool and a spacious bathroom, which includes a walk-in shower and complimentary bathroom amenities. They are also popular with guests and are fitted with luxurious furniture as well as sound proofing.

Romantic couples with love the De Zeekoe’s honeymoon superior rooms. These come with large, open plan bedrooms, King-size beds, fireplaces, lounges, full en-suite bathrooms and open-air showers. The suites are luxurious and offer views of the Outeniqua and Swartberg mountains.

Standard amenities in all the rooms include air conditioning, heating, bath robes, beach towels, TVs with DStv, Netflix, hair-dryers, mini-bars, private patios, pure cotton linen, safes, security, Showmax, sun-decks and Wi-Fi.

Just 2km from the Main House are the private Cottages. These are ideal for people, who really want to connect with the Karoo countryside. Thus, each cottage has been carefully blended into its surroundings. The cottages still feature a mini bar, safe, coffee & tea stations, inside fireplace, outside fireplace, bathrooms with showers, heater/air-con, bath robes, slippers, private decks and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast & dinner is served at the main house.

Families or groups will love their Manor House. Offered on a self-catering basis, it can accommodate up to six people in three bedrooms – each one with its own bathroom. The Manor House is within walking distance of the Main House and if you choose not to cook, you can just walk to the de Windpomp restaurant for sumptuous breakfasts and dinners.

Other amenities include access to de Zeekoe swimming pool, lounge and dining area, fully-equipped kitchen as well as an inside & outside braai area. There is also shaded private parking for vehicles.

Those really needing to escape into the Karoo, you can have exclusive use of the Wildehondekloof Private Game Reserve. On this 4 000-hectare reserve is a luxury game lodge offering a Presidential Suite and eight Deluxe Suites. It also features a large dining area, Wi-Fi internet, outside braai facilities, picnic areas, and lounge with fireplace.

Enjoy game drives, hiking, biking, and a natural river for swimming.

Dining at the De Windpomp Restaurant is an experience. This great restaurant combines a beautiful setting with great views of the Outeniqua Mountains, amazing food and excellent service.

Activities in Oudtshoorn

You do not have to leave the De Zeekoe Guest Farm for adventure. The farm offers a wide range of activities. Their wild meerkat tours are popular with guests for good reason too!

The farm is home to ostriches, springbok, cattle, sheep and alfalfa fields. You can also try self-guided hiking trails, mountain biking, canoeing on the Oliphant’s River, fishing, birding and salt water swimming.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
