The ultimate enjoyment of golf lies at the heart of the Citrusdal Golf Club, in Citrusdal, on the West Coast countryside.
The story of the Citrusdal Golf Club traces back to 1960, when a group of 15 residents decided to build a golf course at a common ground called the ‘Koeikamp’. However, as fate would have it, despite their efforts, their 4 hole-course fell away.
In 1975, another group decided to also take on the ‘Koeikamp’ and built a 9-hole course. In the 80’s, the club’s committee managed to buy the ‘Koeikamp’ land.
Today, the Citrusdal Golf Club hosts a number of popular golf events including the Citrusdal Open, Land Bank Tournament, Citrusdal Invitational, Seatrade Classic and the Captain’s Tournament.
Golfing at Citrusdal Golf Club
The Citrusdal Golf Club is noted as one of the best 9-hole golf courses in the Western Cape. It offers a scenic course that is very level and situated on the banks of the Olifants River with views of the magnificent Cederberg Mountains.
Golfers say the course itself is very intimidating and challenging, but worth the visit.
The golf club has been commended for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are welcome and can pay a very reasonable fee before getting on the greens.
Facilities include a big enough club house; a stocked bar for post-game relaxation and a braai area.
The golf course is also suited for intimate private events and gatherings.
