Finding the right hotel in Cape Town is often about balancing comfort, convenience and location. The Cape Diamond Boutique Hotel delivers all three, placing guests in the heart of the city while providing a comfortable retreat from the energy of the surrounding streets.
I arrived at the hotel during the morning, well before the normal check-in time. The staff were welcoming and happy to store my luggage safely until my room was ready. This gave me the perfect opportunity to begin exploring the city.
The hotel is situated in Cape Town’s vibrant CBD, with markets, shops, restaurants and nightclubs all within a short walk. Major attractions are also easily accessible. An e-hailing ride to the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain and many of the city’s other popular destinations is quick and relatively inexpensive.

A spacious and comfortable room
When I returned to the hotel, I found my room spacious and equipped with everything a business traveller or tourist would require.
The bathroom positively glistened, and the shower offered plenty of water pressure. That may sound like a relatively minor detail, but I have judged many otherwise promising hotels poorly because of a feeble shower. Fortunately, that was certainly not a problem at the Cape Diamond Hotel.
Although the hotel is located in an area that remains busy until the early hours of the morning, the elevation of my room and its well-sealed windows kept the city noise at bay. I slept like the dead. The large bed, crisp white linen and perfectly comfortable pillows undoubtedly helped.
The in-room tea and coffee facilities meant that I could enjoy an early start the following morning. Sitting on my balcony with a hot drink and a wonderful view of the city was a particularly pleasant way to begin the day.
Drinks with a view of Table Mountain
One of the hotel’s most distinctive features is its rooftop venue, the Rough Diamond Terrace.
After taking the lift and climbing the final flight of stairs, you emerge onto the rooftop and are greeted by an incredible view of Table Mountain. It is a superb place to sit back, order a drink and appreciate one of Cape Town’s most famous landmarks from a different perspective.
After enjoying a drink or two on the rooftop, I decided to explore the city’s nightlife on foot. Cape Town’s Tourism Safety Officers were a reassuring presence on the streets. I encountered several of these officers during my stay and found them extremely helpful, with more than one providing directions and useful information when I needed it. As in any major city, visitors should remain aware of their surroundings, particularly after dark.
An excellent base for exploring Cape Town
The Cape Diamond Boutique Hotel combines a wonderfully central location with spacious accommodation, friendly service and a memorable rooftop experience.
Whether you are visiting Cape Town for business, sightseeing or a weekend enjoying the city’s restaurants and nightlife, the hotel provides a comfortable and conveniently located base.
If you are looking for an inviting hotel in the heart of the Cape Town CBD, look no further than the Cape Diamond Boutique Hotel.
