Artist’s Retreat Guest House is suitable for families, couples or business travellers. Their three units offer comfortable accommodation – aptly named as Degas, Renoir, and Picasso are spacious and comfortable.

The accommodation comprises of three comfortable units.

Degas Apartment – Self catering Unit

Degas Apartment can accommodate four guests in total. It is fully self-catering with a B&B option. It offers Lounge/open plan kitchen with sea views from the lounge area. There is a private bedroom with a Queen-size bed and two divan type single beds in the lounge.

Divan beds feature as seating during the day and beds at night.

The shower with toilet and basin is separate from the main bedroom so that the guests in the lounge area have access without disturbing anyone.

  • Amenities include a fully fitted kitchen with a stove, oven, fridge, microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
  • Luxury 100% Percale linen, soft towels, soaps for pampering.
  • Patio and BBQ facilities, private entrance and off-road safe parking.


The Renoir room

The Renoir room is on a B&B Option only and offers amazing sea views, its own patio and BBQ facilities. It comes with one Super King bed that can be converted into two singles bed for singles.

Facilities include –

  • On-suite shower. B&B option. Coffee/tea facilities, luxury 100% Percale linen, soft towels, soaps for pampering.
  • Private entrance and off-road safe parking.

The Picaso unit

The Picaso offering has a very large open plan room on first floor with full sea view from two balconies and room.

It offers –

  • A Queen bed, Single bed, lounge and dining area, and full shower on suite with double basins.
  • Microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities.
  • Luxury 100% Percale linen, soft towels, soaps for pampering.
  • Patio and BBQ facilities, private entrance and off-road safe parking.

Since it’s a wellness retreat, there are no television sets in the rooms as they try to keep the environment as tranquil as possible. Their goal is to deliver the so-called three R’s – relaxation, rest and rejuvenation, for their guests.

You will find that care has also been taken to provide good, comfy beds and quality percale linen, luxury towels and complimentary soaps in all bathrooms.

After a good night’s rest, you wake up to an Optional  Full / Continental breakfast, which is available on request.

Inquire about their package accommodation deals, they often have romantic getaways which includes a whole package which spoils the guests with all meals, snacks and a  well known photographer to capture the special weekend.

Special rates apply for large groups and long stays – seven days or more.

Facilities and things to do at Artist’s Retreat

  • Artist’s Retreat offers wellness therapy courses, which are run on a weekly basis or for groups over the weekends. The aim is to aid relaxation and counselling through the use of Art. You do not have to be artistic to participate, art is merely the tool used to assist with the healing process.

The courses are designed for all who need to address issues in their lives – or have gone through trauma needing healing with the help of a trained counsellor.

For those that just need to play – Art jamming sessions for all. We also teach art.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
