Ammazulu African Palace-a fantasy palace that feeds the soul

If you ever wondered if there may be a venue out there, that is different, unusual, out the box and total surreal. Then you are about to read about such a place, the Ammazulu African Palace.

Ammazulu African Palace is an unique inspirational Palace build on the edge of the Krantzkloof Gorge, a mere 20mins from Durban central.

The concept came to Peter Amm in early 2000. Having acquired the property 55 years ago, he left it untouched for many years. He has always wished that he would be able to showcase his life’s collection in some way but having this special dream come to him, become a reality. It took several years for the masterpiece to be completed and wow, what a Masterpiece.

Anticipating that it would become a 5-star guesthouse was not really on the cards but when it happened 9 years ago, everything changed and the Palace opened to the public.

This majestic place has 10 very different but classy suites. Each decorated with antique beadwork and beautifully carved furniture from Bali. Two of the best suites look out onto the captivating Krantzkloof Gorge.

The main open area is utilized for amazing special function, seating only 60 people at two large unique and stunning wooden S-shaped tables – wedding, birthdays, yearend events, team building and much more can be hosted in this special area.

Small conferences, can also be accommodated in a private suite, seating a maximum of 16 people.

Another very interesting fact is that Ammazulu is an Adult venue. Although we all enjoy family time with the kids, there comes a time that couples need their own quite time too. Ammazulu offers Adults the time to rekindle and appreciate each other in our private suites.

Of cause this beautiful Palace needs to be seen to be believed. Feel free to make an appointment, as viewing is only permitted, with an appointment. Tours of the palace can also be arranged. To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review. We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience? The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe. It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
