Ammazulu African Palace, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
After going through a very stressful week, my husband and I were lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay in the luxurious Ammazulu African Palace in Durban. Calling this accommodation offering a Palace is no exaggeration; from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like royalty!
The grandness and beauty of this establishment truly make it deserving of its 5-star status. The collection of art-works and history left both me and my husband in awe. You can see unbelievable works of art everywhere you look, the more you look around the more amazing artworks you will find.
I was truly not expecting to be so blown away by Ammazulu African Palace. The guest house reflects on parts of KwaZulu-Natal’s history and has been carefully and lovingly nurtured for almost 40 years.
The palace overlooks the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve and has so much to experience and explore!
Accommodation at Ammazulu African Palace
Ammazulu offers four different rooms to choose from; the President, Deluxe, Executive and Junior Suites. We spent the night in the beautiful and spacious Junior Suite. While the Junior Suites are smaller than the other rooms, they were still pleasantly spacious and allowed us to enjoy beautiful views of the Kloof Gorge from our balcony.
Our room came equipped with a King-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, TV with DStv, tea and coffee-making facilities and a minibar fridge. The room was also elegantly decorated with traditional African artworks and antique beadwork.
Since we were right in the middle of a game reserve we didn’t have to worry about noise or city sounds. After a restful night’s sleep, we woke up to only the sounds of the birds and felt completely at peace. It was wonderful to enjoy such peacefulness; Ammazulu African Palace is truly a unique destination.
We couldn’t miss an opportunity to explore this beautiful palace so my husband and I decided to take a walk around and see the rest of this beautiful bed & breakfast – totally worth it! The staff accompanied us and gave us a twirl around so we could see all the different and interesting types of art.
Local Durban artist Peter Amm; used his entire collection of Zulu arts and crafts to decorate the palace- local is lekker after all.
