With AfriCanyon you can abseil in and around waterfalls in Plettenberg Bay, Storms River Mouth and Knysna. They also offer zip-lining, swimming, canyoneering, gorge-walking and jumps in an incredibly beautiful setting.

The great thing is that all levels of adventurer are welcome – including first timers and novices as no prior experience needed! Their adventures are also suited for children eight years and above. Note that eight year-old kids must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

Their daily trips vary between two and three hours, depending on group size and river conditions. If you are looking for a COVID-19 and social-distancing adventure, this is it.

AfriCanyon River Adventures offerings

Choose between their Standard trip or Short tour options. Please note the rock pool zip-line is only available on the Standard trip.

Their Standard Full Monty Canyoning Trip option includes relaxation at the forest nature spa afterwards. You also enjoy lunch al fresco, sparkling wine amidst indigenous surroundings and a well-deserved one-hour couples’ massage.

Short on time, you can choose their Short Intro Dip or Canyoning Intro option. It is just that an introduction, and includes abseiling in and around waterfalls, an optional jump in magical surrounds. However, it does not include the rock pool zip-line.

AfriCanyon provides all the adventure equipment you will need for your adventure – wet suits; harnesses; helmets; personal flotation devices or lifejackets. Shoes can be rented from them if you don’t want to get yours wet. Remember to bring your swimming clothes.

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review. We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience? The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.
