Cape Town Helicopters offer a wide variety of scenic flights which give a fresh perspective on all the famous landmarks around the peninsular.

Flights leave from the V&A Waterfront and vary in length with a live commentary given by the pilot.

A short twelve-minute flight will enable you to soak up the sights along the Atlantic Seaboard – the stadium, Clifton, Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles.

The Twelve Apostles flight will have the skilful pilot take you up close to the mountain range.

A full Peninsular Flight takes in the breath-taking view and colours of the Cape Peninsular from all angles. This flight includes a free Sunset Cruise aboard the IQ Catamaran.

An unrivalled experience is a flight over iconic Robben Island where you can view the island in its entirety. The helicopter does not land on the island.

The Atlantico Marine Big five Ocean Safari includes a one hour boat safari where you have a chance to see dolphins, whales, sharks, seals and penguins.

Cape Town Helicopters also offer flights to various wine farms. These are private flights and do not include lunch, which is for your own account.

Trips to adventure destinations such as shark cage diving and other sports are also available.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review. We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience? The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.

Well that’s our theory anyway. It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good
