This beautifully renovated 1906 guest house, owned and managed by Mark and Karen Kotze, is renowned for its old-world charm, warm hospitality and excellent food.
This is a food lovers’ destination and an experience of note. Specialising in real soul food, their classic, unfussy dishes are made with the freshest ingredients, cooked to perfection and elegantly served.
Start your Day right at DeKotzenhof Guest House
Wake up to one of a range of seven different flavoured rusks to enjoy with your morning coffee. Then prepare yourself for a wholesome platteland breakfast, both continental and hot plate.
The eggs are free range, bacon tastes like it used to, and milk and yogurt are delivered straight from the dairy.
Each morning you will be served a different dish. Enjoy the smorgasbord of homemade marmalades and jams with your toast of homemade bread.
End with a marvellous filter coffee followed by scones straight from the oven, a healthy bran muffin or crumpets with honeysuckle syrup, depending on the chef’s choice of the day.
Chef Mark’s Designer Menus
Dinners are a set three course menu served in therestaurant with seating for 20. Mark designs the menu around your group’s dietary requirements.
Weather permitting, starters may be enjoyed in the boma before the main spread in the restaurant.
Mouth-watering choices include everyone’s favourites. Twelve-hour slow roasted lamb shanks, smoked salmon grilled to perfection, slow cooked oxtail in red wine with apricots, fillet steak with red wine jus. Deep fried camembert topped with Marula, chilli or orange and tarragon jelly. Apple crumble or poached pears in red wine.
Lunch, dinner and picnic baskets, including vegetarian options, are available by pre-booking.
The Deli at DeKotzenhof Guest House
If all this is not enough and you can’t bear to leave, there is still The Deli. Let the tastes and memories linger, and stock up on Mark’s preserves and jams, shortbread, rusks and homemade bread. Frozen cooked meals like boboti, oxtail, curries, pies, pastas and puddings are all available.
