Along the beautiful, leafy and sun dappled streets of Swellendam lies the equally attractive Drostdy Restaurant in its historic thatched and thick-walled Zanddrift building.
Owned by the well-known couple, David and Annelie Godin, Drostdy Restaurant is clearly influenced by David’s French origins with chalkboard menus and simple but attractive table settings.
Seating can be in the cool interior or on the veranda with its magnificent view of the Langeberg.
Serving a range of French and African cuisine, deliciously composed of fresh, local produce, some of which are unique to the area. The wine list, carefully thought out to accompany the menu, is sourced from local vineyards.
Each dish is beautifully presented as it should be for such fine fare. From scrumptious tapas to mouth-watering 3-course dinners, the menu is diverse.
The combination of great food and friendly service makes this one of my favourite restaurants to visit in the Overberg region and, as a personal tip; you’ve got to try their lamb shanks and beef fillet.
