African Shark Eco-Charters is a top shark diving company who pride themselves on being eco sensitive, and on running the safest operation in Simon’s Town, False Bay.
Owned and run by shark expert Rob Lawrence and his wife Karen and their dedicated team in Cape Town, they specialise in providing natural encounters with sharks.
Motivated by their love and passion for sharks, particularly great whites, their aim is to change perceptions and encourage people to have a positive attitude towards these magnificent creatures as well as all sharks in False Bay. You may also encounter other shark species such as the Broadnose Seven-gilled Cow sharks, the Bronze Whaler sharks and even the odd Hammerhead shark and stingrays.
Rob has been working with sharks for the past twenty-five years and has become an expert on them and their behaviour. His team have all worked with sharks for years and they are professional and extremely knowledgeable about other species they encounter such as the various whales, dolphins, penguins, seals and birds.
Shark Tours with African Shark Eco-Charters
The two main shark diving tours are morning or an afternoon trips, and no experience is necessary. Each tour lasts approximately four and a half hours, with twenty minutes of cage time.
The trip is 4.5 hours long and is determined by weather and sea conditions.
All trips include scuba diving with the hookah method, (meaning you don’t have to hold your breath underwater as other companies make you),all diving gear, drinks and snacks aboard.
In the summer months, they also offer a Blue and Mako shark trip, which will take you off Cape Point, and you will have the option of open ocean scuba diving, or cage diving, if you prefer with these magnificent sharks.
Tours to Shark Alley in Gansbaai, and cage diving in Mossel Bay are great opportunities to see great whites and various whale species.
Five or ten-day tour packages offer great opportunities for photographers who wish to spend 10-days with sharks at the various shark locations in South Africa.
They also offer adventurous seal snorkelling or scuba diving, wreck diving and the kelp forest diving in Simonstown.
