Otium Oasis, as its name implies, is a place for relaxing, enjoying, playing, eating, contemplating and refreshing.
This rustic, serene and eco-friendly farm is located in Tesselaarsdal, near to Caledon in the Western Cape.
Set among fynbos and shady trees, it is the perfect spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The birdlife is prolific, there is a free roaming herd of springbok, a splash pool, a jungle gym and a petting farm which includes alpacas, zebra and potbellied pigs.
Otium Oasis is perfectly situated at the foot of the Haarkapper’s Hiking Trail, mountain biking routes, and lots of dirt roads for adventure biking. Visit De Poskantoor restaurant for breakfast or lunch, or the small café in Tesselaarsdal for necessities. A supermarket in Caledon is a 20-minute drive away.
Self-Catering Accommodation at Otium Oasis
The farm offers four rustic tented chalets and six campsites which include two Tipi tents.
Each tented chalet is elegantly equipped and comfortable and sleeps two or four guests. Each has a fully equipped kitchenette, a private bathroom, a lounge and a deck. Each has a private boma with a hot tub and a braai area.
The eco campsite is located in the forest and includes two Tipi Tents which can accommodate six guests each.
The tipi tents are a true outdoor Indian tipi experience with no electricity or solar in the tipi. The tipi comes with two futon beds which can double into a seating place. There are also two mattresses should you prefer to sleep next to the inside firepit.
A work area is provided for food preparation and includes a braai grid and tongs. Outside are fire pits and seating, including hammocks scattered all around to laze away the day. Hot tubs can be hired on request.
Three full bathrooms powered by solar lighting are provided for the camp site and Tipis, as well as a washing up area.
Activities to explore in the area
Hiking, mountain biking, restaurants, Caledon casino and spa, wine tasting, river rafting, zip lining and many more are a short distance away.
