As millions of passengers around the world look to reunite with friends and family this festive season, Qatar Airways is issuing its five top tips to ensure you get where you want to go, and your passport is fit to fly.
While airlines work with immigration authorities from across the globe to ensure a smooth travel experience, here are five ways you can ensure your holiday season is festive and not frustrating:
- Store it safely: By keeping your passport in a dedicated case or pocket, you reduce the chances of it getting ripped, stained or damaged. Any issues like this could be a reason that immigration or airline staff may refuse you entry or boarding to a flight or country.
- Check the date: Ensure your passport is still well in date and has enough time on it before expiry to comply with the requirements of the destination you’re travelling to.
- Stamp space: Make sure you have enough blank pages in your passport to comply with the entry requirements of the country you’re visiting. Not having enough blank pages for stamps and other official information could prevent you being able to reach where you’re going.
- Free from damage/torn/missing pages: Avoid packing your passport near any liquids or foods to prevent damage, any accidental spills and stains, and also ensure no torn or missing pages, as these could also lead to your passport not being accepted for travel.
- Make time: Check your passport well in advance of your travel date so that you give yourself as much chance as possible to identify any issues and rectify them. Last-minute changes to travel documents can add unwanted stress, and may also incur extra costs from official bodies if required at short notice.
One more thing: make sure to check the official government pages of your destination country for the latest travel requirements.
