There are nine different rooms to choose from at Saxon Lodge; seven of which are en-suite rooms while the other two are courtyard suites which also have en-suite bathrooms. Each suite is spacious and individually decorated so that you can enjoy maximum relaxation and comfort.

All rooms come equipped with temperature control with heaters and a fan, electric blankets, TV with DStv, gowns, safety deposit box, hairdryer, and tea and coffee-making facilities.

Honeymooners can enjoy a stay in the Albatross Suite that offers the best view in the lodge from the private veranda. The suite has an en-suite bathroom with a double shower and bath, and an extra-large bedroom.

The Beachcomber Suite is perfect for families as it comes with an en-suite King-sized bedroom and two single beds in the living room. You can also enjoy views of the pool, garden and ocean from the private veranda.

The Duplex Suites, the Dolphin and Southern Cross rooms come with en-suite bedrooms with King-sized beds, a spacious downstairs lounge, bathrooms with a bath and shower, and a private veranda with views of the area.

The Da Gama and Protea suites are the standard double rooms of the Lodge. With their own unique style they both have their own en-suite bathroom and have ample space for your comfort. The Protea room has an extra bed in the side room you can use in case you are travelling with a child.

The Campbell Suite is a larger standard room and comes with a King-sized bed that can be converted into twin beds, en-suite bathroom and has a spacious, open feel.

On the Southern side of the building, you will find the Courtside Suites. These rooms are situated away from the hustle and bustle of the Lodge, so you can peacefully enjoy the beautiful bohemian gardens.

You can enjoy a hot, yummy breakfast every day in the Saxon Restaurant. Their cook prepares homemade specialities and every day you can try one of their specials. You can also enjoy a delicious dinner upon prior arrangement.

The pride and joy of the owners of Saxon Lodge is their pub; Saxon Arms, which stocks local wines and beers, craft gins and much more. The Lodge offers free Wi-Fi so you can stay connected no matter where you are.

You can cool off during the hot day in their splash pool or relax in the lounge chairs as you soak up some sun. The guest lounge offers a space where you can relax together in front of the fireplace while watching some TV.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
