FIFTEEN VOYAGES. ONE LEGENDARY JOURNEY. OH SHIP Celebrates 15 voyages of music, friendship, and unmatched memories at sea

3 November 2026 – What began as a wild idea shared between partners has become one of South Africa’s most iconic and enduring party experiences. This December, Oh Ship sets sail on its 15th Voyage, marking over a decade of unforgettable moments, legendary performances, and ocean-deep friendships.

Co-founded and produced by DJ Fresh (Thato Sikwane), Euphonik (Themba Nkosi), and Tracey Marcus, Oh Ship started as a dream to “captain our own ship” — and turned into a movement that has redefined entertainment at sea. The name itself, born from a late-night brainstorm (“Oh Sh*t — it happened!”), perfectly captures the energy, spontaneity, and fearless fun that has fueled every voyage since.

The evolution of a legend

From the very first sail-out to the upcoming 2025 voyage, Oh Ship has grown into a national tradition — with over 37,000 Oh Shippers, 240 DJs and live acts, 45 comedians, and more than 1,000 crew members creating magic across 15 unforgettable cruises. Each voyage brings together music lovers, dreamers, and party legends who board as strangers and leave as family.

And every single one of those voyages — including Oh Ship 2025 — has been a complete sell-out, often months in advance. Demand continues to soar, proof of the loyal Oh Ship community and the unmatched experience that has kept South Africans coming back year after year.

The decks have hosted South Africa’s biggest names , from Fresh and Euphonik to Sun-El Musician, Mo Flava, Kyotic, Ryan the DJ, Ayanda MVP, Vinny Da Vinci, Dino Bravo, and countless others. Comedians such as Skhumba Hlophe, Celeste Ntuli, and Ndumiso Lindi have filled theatres with laughter, while MSC Cruises’ world-class hospitality has transformed every voyage into a 72-hour festival of sound, sunsets, and sea breeze.

Partnerships built to last

A special salute goes to KWV, Oh Ship’s headline sponsor since 2023, whose energy, flavour, and innovation have elevated the onboard experience to new heights.

From bespoke activations to signature moments on deck, KWV has become part of the Oh Ship DNA — a partnership defined by creativity, celebration, and shared spirit.

From the very first voyage to this year’s 15th celebration, MSC Cruises has been more than a partner – they’ve been part of the Oh Ship family.

Together, we’ve turned waves into dancefloors, decks into stages, and ocean nights into lifelong memories.

MSC Cruises has carried us through every beat, every laugh, and every sunrise at sea – ensuring that every Oh Ship experience is smooth sailing, luxurious, and unforgettable.

Their world-class hospitality and unwavering support have helped us create not just a cruise, but a culture. As we raise a glass to 15 voyages of Oh Ship, we also toast to the ship that started it all – and the crew that’s been with us since day one.

From MSC Musica to MSC Orchestra, MSC Splendida, MSC Opera, and MSC Sinfonia, every ship has carried our story forward – each one adding its own rhythm to the Oh Ship legacy.

Here’s to MSC Cruises – our home on the ocean, our partner in celebration, and the vessel that made every voyage legendary.

The soundtrack of celebration

This year also marks the release of Oh Ship’s first official anthem, “Celebrate”, produced by Fresh and Euphonik.

The track captures the heartbeat of the brand — freedom, joy, and togetherness — a soundtrack for every Oh Shipper who’s ever danced under the stars or laughed till sunrise at sea.

The Captains reflect

In a joint message, Fresh, Euphonik, and Tracey Marcus shared:

“When we started Oh Ship, it was just a dream — an idea that music, laughter, and the open ocean could create something extraordinary. Fifteen voyages later, we’ve built a family. To our entertainers, crew, partners, and every Oh Shipper who’s sailed with us: thank you. You are the reason this journey continues to be so special. Here’s to the next fifteen voyages — and to the magic that never ends.”

The voyage continues

As Oh Ship 2025 sets sail from Durban to Portuguese Island, the legend grows stronger. And for those who missed out on this year’s sold-out celebration — watch this space.

About us

Actually, Home Food and Travel offers a lot more than just reviews of accommodation, restaurants, spas and adventure activities.  We also visit great destinations, receive advice from interior designers and stop to smell the roses and taste the coffee.

Our team of journalists are seasoned travels and love visiting the myriad of exciting places around South Africa.  Whether it is off the beaten track or in the heart of the top attractions of the country, we’ll be there,

Home Food and Travel advice on finding the right accommodation

So what is the right accommodation?  Well more often than not, it’s your travel budget that dictates the type of accommodation that you choose.

Expensive is not always better.  Our team at Home Food and Travel will tell you that they have camped in areas with limited ablutions and had a wonderful holiday.  They have also spent a night in a five star hotel only to be disappointed because their expectations exceeded the experience.

The reason for your travels will also affect your choice.  A business trip requires different amenities to a beach holiday.

Our articles, reviews and experiences can certainly help you make your decision.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.

On the road to great places of accommodation, restaurants, spas and adventure activities

If you’re driving, be safe and make use of all the wonderful farm stalls that populate South Africa’s open roads.

If you overhear somebody asking a lot of questions or see someone taking photos of empty bedrooms chances are it’s one of our Home Food and Travel team members.

We’re out looking or those great places of accommodation, restaurants, spas and adventure activities.

See you on the road!
