Boat Cruises at Harties Harbour

A cruise on Hartbeespoort Dam, or Harties, as it is affectionately known, aboard Danny Bouy / Toro Ya Me, is a great way to spend time with friends or family.

Danny Bouy and Toro Ya me is a double decker aluminium hulled boat that can seat up to 100 or 35 people.  There is a bar on board and it has a sun shade for added comfort.

Brunch, Lunch or Sunset Cruises with Harties Boat Company

The cruises are at a leisurely pace allowing you to enjoy the pleasant experience on being on this beautiful dam with its magnificent mountains and delightful views.

Each two-hour cruise will take you around the edge of the dam, past the dam wall with its iconic triumph arch, then cross to the other side and back to the harbour.      

Each cruise includes delicious hot and cold finger or fork food and there is a cash bar on board.

A sunset cruise is always special and begins with a welcoming glass of champagne. Generous and delicious hot and cold snacks will be served as you relax and enjoy a golden sunset over the dam.

Exclusive Corporate Events

Make your next corporate event  exceptional with a fully chartered cruise on Danny Bouy for up to 100 people.  Danny Bouy can also cater for weddings and private parties and offer something very different to the norm with a dance floor and table seating too.

The vessel can be set up on two levels in various configurations and transformed into something magical.

A two-hour scenic cruise will include champagne and welcome cocktails on arrival, hot and cold finger food, or a buffet menu and bar service. 

Music is provided or clients are welcome to bring their own music on USB.

Another popular option is a sunset cruise followed by a unique Unimog game drive and bush braai at the boma at Shingalani Bush Camp in the Kommando Wildlife Resort.

Safety First

Harties Boat Company is SAMSA certified with commercially licensed skippers and qualified crew and the boat has ample lifejackets onboard. Each cruise starts off with a safety briefing before departure.

Famous Sunday Lunches

Soul Food Sunday Lunch Buffet at the Bush Camp in the midst of the Komandonek Game Reserve has become famous.

To build up an appetite, diners are collected at Harties Harbour and then transported through the game reserve for some game viewing onboard a Unimog before arriving at the boma for lunch.  This is typical bushveld meal with all the trimmings.

Expensive is not always better.  Our team at Home Food and Travel will tell you that they have camped in areas with limited ablutions and had a wonderful holiday.  They have also spent a night in a five star hotel only to be disappointed because their expectations exceeded the experience.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
