Situated on a five-hectare forested farm, just 20 minutes from Plettenberg Bay, Firefly Falls offers relaxed accommodation to suit every type of traveller. 

Close to a host of adventure activities, these include, kayaking, canyoning, black water tubing and the world’s highest commercial bungee jump.

For the less adventurous there are hiking trails and forest walks, a putting green, a Boulle pitch and beautiful picnic spots. 

Firefly Falls is an ideal place for team building or for a retreat. The rolling lawns and common areas can accommodate up to fifty people for meetings.

It is also a perfect setting for a quaint woodland wedding on the lawns and surrounded by forest.  Their team will assist you with catering, equipment and tent hire.

Their belief in sustainability means that the team take proactive efforts to maintain their wonderful surrounding areas.

Accommodation at Firefly Falls

Firefly Falls specialise in immersing their guests in their surroundings, their accommodation offerings consist of Glamping Tents, Camping, Cabins as well as Budget Rooms.

Three budget rooms are ideal for backpackers. These include a metal locker, two single beds each and a shared bathroom.

There are seven private camp sites with communal ablution blocks and a communal kitchen.

There are two cabins, one designed to suit a family of four with a kitchenette, outdoor shower and bathtub. While the Safari Cabis is designed to accommodate a couple, with a front panel that opens up with views and sounds of the forest, a mini camping-style kitchenette and an outdoor shower and loo.

Another basic two- bedroom cabin with an attached bathroom sleeps four and has access to communal kitchen

The Family glamping tent on a raised wooden deck sits on the edge of the forest.  There are two rooms, with electrical point and lights.

There are also Dome canvas glamping tents and a large luxury glamping tent suitable for couples or singles willing to share

There is also a quirky little farm cottage which sleeps four in two bedrooms. This is situated on a working farm with animals.

Clean linen and towels are provided and all guests have access to the two beautiful forest bathrooms, where you can bathe in privacy in the forest.

Firefly Falls offers free WiFi at their WiFi hotspot area, a communal kitchen, secure parking, braai areas, a bar and a large hot tub (booking essential).

The opportunity to enjoy a bath in a forest is one that doesn’t come around too often, thanks to their two beautiful forest bathrooms; you can do just that during your visit to Firefly Falls.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
