Villa Afrique – Hout Bay – Cape Town
Villa Afrique offers accommodation that typifies the peacefulness and beauty of Hout Bay. Also called ‘The Republic of Hout Bay’ by the friendly locals, this amazing seaside travel destination located just outside Cape Town is for those looking to immerse themselves in everything this region has to offer.
On a recent visit to the Mother City, I made Villa Afrique my base – it was a great choice. I was treated to some stunning uninterrupted views of the Hout Bay harbour, the town, the ocean and the peaks beyond from their outside area and swimming pool.
My friend and I were highly impressed with the overall attention to detail that is found at this establishment and it is easy to see why Villa Afrique has been awarded a 5-Star rating. The sound of classical music gently playing in the background added a further touch of sophistication.
Above all, the owners were very accommodating and helpful during my stay. One of the owners, Alma Toerien, gave us helpful advice as to where to go and visit in and around Hout Bay. It was quite refreshing to see someone so passionate about the area they stay in.
Coffee lovers will definitely appreciate the fact that each room comes equipped with their own coffee plunger and a portion of filter coffee to use. As a coffee lover myself, I was delighted to see this in my bedroom upon my arrival.
Villa Afrique has secure parking as well as an alarm system within the house for added peace of mind. Each of their rooms is relatively private for visitors – you feel like you have the villa to yourself.
Accommodation at Villa Afrique
Visitors have the selection of four downstairs bedrooms to choose from during their stay. Each of their rooms are individually styled and decorated. I spent an evening in the African Room.
Each of their rooms has en-suite bathrooms. A number of paintings adorn each room and add its own character. The assortment of art is derived from the name given to each room.
The antique, yet modern appeal of the rooms was somewhat comforting. The beautiful wooden furnishings were accompanied by all the modern amenities one could ask for.
Facilities & Breakfast at Villa Afrique
This five-star guest house in Hout Bay definitely puts a lot of effort in when it comes to their breakfasts. A large selection of fruit salads, jams and yoghurt are accompanied by the main breakfast.
Visitors have a large variety as to how they wish their eggs to be prepared, I opted for a poached egg. Bacon and sausages accompanied by fruit juice is also served. The breakfasts are prepared by the owners, who take an immense amount of pride in the food they prepare.
Breakfasts are preferably served on the outside patio, should the weather permit it.
Each room comes equipped with DStv as well as complimentary Wi-Fi. Coffee and tea making facilities are found within each room. A plunger and filter coffee was a pleasant surprise to me. It is evident that Villa Afrique wishes for their guests to enjoy a luxurious stay.
Villa Afrique has its own bar area where visitors can purchase drinks from. This is a great alternative to travelling in town, whilst also being able to enjoy sundowners on the patio makes for a great experience.
The highlight of my stay has to be spending some time sitting back and relaxing on their outside patio. I was able to admire the immense beauty of the region whilst sipping on some quality coffee. The smell of the nearby fisheries put me in the mood for some seafood as well.
If only the weather was a bit better during my stay, otherwise I would have definitely given their picturesque swimming pool a go.
