The Castellon Boutique Hotel is a colonial style villa with B&B and basic self-catering suites. Set in the Rietvlei Wetland and Bird Sanctuary and with views of Table Mountain, the hotel offers a peaceful and tranquil setting, and warm and friendly hospitality.

As the hotel is only twenty minutes’ drive from Cape Town’s CBD it is popular with business men and women. With this in mind, early morning breakfasts and departures are catered for, as well as for late arrivals. The hotel is also wheelchair accessible.

There is a small garden and an informal bar in the swimming pool courtyard.

The impressive double volume dining room features bold and original modern South African art, and here guests can enjoy a choice of a mini, continental or full English breakfast.

There are eight tastefully decorated open plan suites. Each suite has its own Wow! factor.

Here guests can enjoy the stunning views of the wetlands and Table Mountain from the comfort of your bed or bath tub.

At night the view of Table Mountain and the city lights is a magical sight.

Each of their two executive apartments sleeps three adults or two adults and two children. There is one family suite which will sleep four. Each suite has a bath and a shower, DSTV, a stocked bar fridge, air conditioner, WiFi, a lounge area and a kitchenette with basic self-catering equipment for your convenience.

All of the rooms have mini fridges inside, and will only be stocked with drinks upon request from guests.

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review. We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.
