Tucked away neatly in Cape Town’s trendiest strip, Burger and Lobster is a lively restaurant and bar offering a delectable selection of burgers, lobster dishes, and freshly crafted bespoke cocktails.

The decor is a blend of designer industrial chic, featuring a prominent lobster etched into the plaster of an original red brick wall – all creating a casual, warm, lively, and inviting ambiance.

Wheel chair accessible, Burger and Lobster offers free off-street parking, a full bar, Wi-Fi, and also welcomes dogs.

The menu at Burger and Lobster

The restaurant features a special R189 Winter Menu.  Available from Monday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, sit down or take away, this features a cheese burger, half lobster roll, fries and lemon garlic butter.

Their “Double Trouble Chewsday” menu, available on Tuesdays only, for R199, The deal consists of a Beef Smash Burger with burnt butter mayo, cheese and pickled onions plus a Southern Fried Chicken Burger with Siracha mayo. Both served are with fries.

The deal is available every Tuesday for lunch and dinner, and for sit down and takeaway. ⁣

A special feature of Burger and Lobster is their Social Hour.  Every day from 4 to 5.30pm there is half price on selected wine by the glass, beer, bubbly and cocktails, all complemented by their R79 delectable Bar Bites.

Their small plates menu is perfect for sharing, while the large plates include vegetarian and vegan options.

A must-try is their iconic lobster roll, served in a freshly baked toasted brioche with warm lobster meat, lobster butter, light Japanese mayonnaise, and chives.

Alternatively, enjoy a whole lobster with fries, salad, and lemon butter.

The lobster is sustainably sourced and the burgers are made with the highest quality free-range, grass-fed beef.  As far as possible menu items are crafted on-site, from scratch, complemented by a selection of signature cocktails specially designed to pair with their dishes.

Desserts are pure indulgence.  Their signature layered oreo and Nutella cheese cake with Chantilly cream and crushed oreos, or their Espresso Mousse – coffee-soaked chocolate sponge, with chocolate crumble and salted caramel, or peppermint crisp and crunchy beignets, will satisfy any sweet tooth.

And a kid’s menu features all the favourites like burgers, fries, calamari, chicken strips, and ice cream.

For special occasions and events, Burger and Lobster provides specially crafted set menus to make your celebration memorable.

Burger and Lobster is perfect for a lunch stop, takeout, or a dinner before a night out. They are open from Monday to Sunday, 12:00 to 22:30.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
