Weylandts is set to open the doors to its landmark store at Reefside Lifestyle & Leisure, within the greater Sibaya Coastal City, on Saturday, 3 October 2026, marking one of the brand’s most ambitious physical expressions to date. Moving beyond the traditional showroom model, the store brings architecture, interiors, furniture and hospitality together within a more immersive environment, reflecting how Weylandts sees the future of physical retail.
Conceptualised by StudioLandt, the store has been designed so that the journey through it is as considered as the furniture within it. Across multiple levels, the architecture reveals a sequence of interiors, materials and perspectives that invite visitors to explore at their own pace. The result is a destination worth making the trip to, whether spending a morning with family, sourcing inspiration for a project, meeting over coffee or simply taking in the space itself.
The opening weekend will give visitors their first opportunity to experience the store in full, with festivities across the weekend and a limited selection of pieces available exclusively at Weylandts Sibaya at special launch pricing. Beyond the opening itself, the ambition is to establish the store as somewhere people choose to return to, a place to browse, eat, meet and gather inspiration.
“Good living was never only about furniture,” says Chris Weylandt, CEO of Weylandts. “It’s about how people gather and connect. We want people to linger, not simply pass through.”
The architecture reinforces that thinking. Drawing on KwaZulu-Natal’s coastal character, references to granite, basalt, concrete, sand, sea and sugarcane shape the building’s material language. Darker, earthy tones ground the interiors, while water becomes a recurring thread throughout the showroom, introducing movement and reflecting the fluidity of nature and the passage of time. At the entrance, water creates a moment of respite from the dense coastal environment, allowing visitors to pause and attune to the space before the journey through the showroom begins. As Weylandt explains, “We want our spaces to feel like a world.”
Hospitality adds another dimension through Durban-based, family-run Shoots and Leaves, bringing its farm-to-table philosophy into the store. Known for fresh, wholesome food and relaxed dining, the restaurant introduces a distinctly local element that complements Weylandts’ focus on design and good living. Visitors can move naturally from browsing to coffee or lunch, while a dedicated boardroom provides meeting space for local businesses, creatives and interior designers.
The location at Reefside Lifestyle & Leisure was equally deliberate. As part of the broader Sibaya Coastal City precinct, Reefside sits within the growing coastal corridor linking uMhlanga and the North Coast. Its accessibility, natural setting, architectural character and evolving residential, commercial and lifestyle offering align closely with the type of destination Weylandts wanted to create. “Sibaya represents thoughtful growth,” adds Weylandt. “Its connection to nature, its strong architectural identity and its vision for integrated coastal living resonate deeply with our philosophy. It is an environment that gave us the freedom to create something distinctly Weylandts.”
The opening also brings Weylandts’ KwaZulu-Natal presence together in one destination, following the consolidation of its Ballito and uMhlanga stores into Sibaya. From 3 October, Weylandts Sibaya at Reefside Lifestyle & Leisure opens its doors to a new expression of the brand, centred on discovery, inspiration and time well spent.
