The Greek Fisherman is a family owned restaurant where eating is a warm and social experience. Sharing food is important in Greek culture and each dish is made with love and care.
Inspired by Greece and the Mediterranean, their new home in a Heritage site in Sea Point is warm and inviting. Each dining room has its own fire place and is a cosy place to be in winter.
The décor is reminiscent of the Greek Islands and there is a lovely courtyard centred around a fountain, which makes for great al fresco dining.
The Food at The Greek Fisherman
Their menu is a celebration of quality raw ingredients simply and slowly cooked, seasoned to perfection with fresh herbs and olive oil. They believe in cooking from the heart, using ingredients that are true to the village lifestyle.
The seafood is brought in fresh, daily. All the bread is freshly made on the premises as are their authentic Greek dips.
The menu offers a selection of over twenty different signature starters and meze, ideal for sharing. The likes of pan-fried haloumi saganaki, grilled octopus, beef biftekia (meat balls), oysters and spanakopita are offered at their establishment.
You can also look forward to slow roasted lamb that falls off the bone, charcoal grills and tender calamari.
There is a wide variety of vegetarian dish options and homemade wholesome vegan food such as dolmades or lentil soup.
Traditional Greek sweets like baklava and mouth-watering loukoumades – traditional Greek doughnut balls with spiced honey syrup and vanilla ice cream.
The Greek Fisherman boasts a great selection of cocktails and more than 150 of the finest wines the Cape has to offer. Their in-house sommelier will gladly assist you with recommendations and food pairing from the menu.
The restaurant is child friendly and offers a children’s menu.
A selection of set menus is also available on request to choose from for private functions or groups, to suit every budget or occasion.
