New Year, new me! Being in a career which demands a lot of energy and personal attention, I decided to treat myself to a couple of classic treatments at Mooikelder Day Spa in Paarl.
Located on a wine farm, the spa is part of the Mooikelder Guest House, which opened its doors in 1913 and has a story rich in family values.
The spa was established four years ago and recently expanded into the farm’s beautiful old wine cellar. Coincidentally, Mooikelder means beautiful cellar.
I found the owner, Yolande le Roux, and therapist, Hilani, very welcoming. I even had a chance to enjoy complimentary snacks; muesli, yogurt and grapes from their vineyard before Hilani took me through to the treatment room.
The rooms boast custom-made therapy beds, which I found very comfortable.
The décor is stunning and is attributed to the creativity of Yolande herself.
Spoil yourself and your partner
Hilani is an expert at her craft and soon untied all the knots in my muscles with her gentle strokes. Completely relaxed, it was time for my next treatment, a 60-minute classic facial using Exuviance products.
Again, Hilani paid personal attention to my problem areas and I felt totally pampered and safe in her hands. She’s a very friendly, knowledgeable therapist. After a cup of homemade iced tea and warm hand cloth to round off the treatments, I felt totally refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for a busy week.
Yolande prides herself on their personalised service. “We encourage our clients to leave behind the bustle of their daily lives for a unique and unforgettable experience,” she told me.
There are a range of packages to choose from, including couples’ and group packages, so if you’re ever in need of some pampering, do make an appointment at Mooikelder.
