Enjoy Authentic Portuguese Food At Cesco’s

To say Cesco’s in Strydom Park serves up authentic Portuguese food is an understatement. To say it serves THE best, well priced, tastiest, authentic Portuguese food…now then, you’d be spot on!

For 24 years Cesco’s has been the go-to for most people in the know when looking for lip-smacking Portuguese cuisine. I recently visited Cesco’s for the first time in over eight years to see if anything had changed and here’s what I discovered.

LET’S START WITH THE LOOK AND FEEL OF CESCO’S

Imagine being invited to a Portuguese friend’s home for lunch or dinner, their pub area is adorned with an assortment of sporting memorabilia and mãe (or even pai) is in the kitchen cooking up a storm of handed down family recipes. This is how you feel when you enter Cesco’s and it’s been like that since day one.

The staff are so friendly and happy and numerous visits to your table are made by management, making sure you are being well taken care of.

NOW ONTO THE REALLY GOOD STUFF – THE FOOD!

The food! If you are looking for the best prawns that Jozi has to offer, look no further, they are masters of the art of cooking these delectable sea scavengers.

Espetada grilled to perfection? Well on Thursday afternoons you can get your carnivore fix with their Espetada lunchtime special (flamed to excellence by Uncle Manny himself). Seafood platters, calamari, traditional dishes such as tripe, peri-peri chicken and chorizo are all second nature to this establishment, which makes it really difficult to choose only one thing.

And as your fellow patron’s dishes arrive you start to get food envy and swear you’ll come back again to try everything on the menu. Daily specials are on offer with a wide variety to suit all palettes from picky eaters to the more adventurous.

I delightfully report, that nothing has changed since the last time I visited this charming pub-style eatery and I hope nothing does. It continues to be a great place to meet friends, have a draught and enjoy large portions of exceptional food and genuine hospitality.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review. We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience? The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table.

Well that’s our theory anyway. It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced. However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience. In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe. It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
