I am a keen explorer, and love discovering new places rich in history, beauty, and serenity. There are few better places to detach and recharge than Graaff-Reinet – and Cypress Cottage is one of the first places I would choose to stay at!
This quaint guesthouse situated on the quiet streets of Graaff-Reinet, is a true gem, offering 4-Star luxury lodging and contemporary self-catering units.
CYPRESS COTTAGE HAS RUSTIC CHARM
Their charming cottages date back to the 1800s and combine authentic Karoo-style paired with the ambiance and comfort of modern living. The cottages are beautifully restored and refurbished with tasteful antiques.
Cypress Cottage has three bedrooms and bathrooms, a dining area, lounge, kitchen and patio. Room 1, has two single twin beds and an en-suite bathroom, Room 2 has a double-bed and en-suite bathroom, and Room 3 is a family room with a double bed and two single beds plus an en-suite bathroom.
The cottage leads onto secluded garden, with swimming pool and special play area for the children.
In addition, the Jacaranda offers three spacious bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and sitting room, kitchen and enclosed stoep area. Rooms offer double or twin beds with own en-suit bathroom. The cottage opens up onto a private garden and veranda covered by shady vines perfect for those warm summer days.
Both cottages tell a story of farm house charm with crisp fresh linen and spotless bathrooms.
Alternatively, you could choose to stay at the RiverBend – a historic building and national monument, which has been completely refurbished to four contemporary self-catering units.
Each unit has a private entrance with secure off-street parking, a patio and braai area. Modish rooms have spectacular mountain views and come with free Wi-Fi, TV, hairdryers and air conditioning.
TRANQUILITY ALL AROUND
These charming historic cottages are nestled away in a quiet residential area and offer fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxation.
Breakfast is a superb sumptuous traditional country affair with the best of fresh farm produce the Karoo has to offer. Seasonal picked fruit, new-laid eggs, bacon, homemade preserves and your usual cereals make the perfect farm-style breakfast to start your day.
The Great Karoo features a vast semi-desert terrain, boundless plains, clear blue skies and castellated mountains that provide the perfect backdrop to escape the city.
Graaff-Reinet has plenty to offer both in the town itself and surrounding areas. Guided wildlife tours, hunting and wing shooing are just a few activities available to you offering the perfect balance of country charm and Karoo adventure.
