Cutman and Hawk; signature espresso – East London

This particular blended coffee is a product of the East London Coffee Company and is custom-roasted by owner, Alan Hawkins.

The Cutman and Hawk Signature Espresso is a blend of four premium Arabica beans roasted to a dark or Full City roast. This speciality premium blend is ideally suited for espresso-based coffees and coffee prepared in a pressurised brewing system such as espresso machines, stove top or bean to cup machines.

Alan says, “Coffee lovers have no need to tolerate stale coffee! The East London Coffee Company is an artisanal roaster and we are able to get freshly roasted coffee to your door within a day or two of roasting.”

He has been in love with coffee since his childhood and this clearly translates into his roasts.

At our recent tasting, we found that the Cutman and Hawk Signature Espresso was one of the best coffees that we sampled that day. As the name would suggest, it worked best as an espresso, but the cappuccino was also very good.

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance. Of these, service is the most important.

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion. However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.
