AIf you are feeling uninspired by your current exercise regime or needing inspiration to get your body into shape, then look no further than the Valley Crag climbing gym in Port Elizabeth.
A PHYSICAL WORKOUT AND A MENTAL CHALLENGE
Climbing gyms have become very popular all around the world and with good reason. Once you start climbing, it becomes really addictive. You are constantly challenging yourself to reach new heights (literally, haha) and to reach these objectives, you need to get fitter, stronger and lighter.
VALLEY CRAG OFFERS EXERCISE AND CAMARADERIE
If having a great summer body is your objective, then climbing is the perfect exercise. The social side of climbing must not be overlooked either, as it is a great way to meet new friends and connect with different people. Many a friendship has been made on the side of a challenging boulder problem.
Valley Crag caters for both the novice, as well as experienced climber, with 500 square-meters of wall space at different slopes and angles boasting 60 bouldering routes, eight top ropes and 3000 grips. It’s really difficult to get bored there as the staff are constantly changing the routes and keeping the space fresh.
The atmosphere at the Valley Crag is awesome, and owner, Ian Clifford, has ensured that he offers an excellent venue and creative timetable. Monday is a Yoga-Climbing Class, Tuesday is a Bouldering league night, Wednesday is a ‘2-for-1’ Intro Course and Thursday and Friday nights are half-price for students.
They also offer corporate team building packages and even host birthday parties for the young ones. I found the equipment first-class, the experience fantastic and there is a shop for personal gear purchases too. Once you’re done, relax in the coffee shop and encourage the other climbers.
