So what if winter is just around the corner, there is still so much to enjoy in our wonderful country. It may seem like the wrong time of the year to be getting wet, but below are a list of really wild and fun activities that can be enjoyed even in the depths of winter. Some come with wet suites, some are indoors in warm water and some are just above the flow, so, no matter the temperature, all can be enjoyed as our Home Food and Travel team will attest.
Romanza Boat Trips
Situated in the heart of Mossel Bay, Romonza Boat Trips is run by three generations of the Klapwijk family who have been offering their trips from the Mossel Bay harbour for almost 40 years.
With amazing views of the entire Mossel Bay, its long curving coastline and the majestic Outeniqua Mountain range to the north and the never-ending deep blue Indian Ocean to the south, this trip is definitely an experience you won’t forget. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing their boat trips five times already, and never has my experience been the same.
Their Seal Island trips are offered throughout the year.
The trip lasts for one hour and allows you to have a closer look and photograph about 4000 Cape Fur Seals that reside on Seal Island, whilst being informed of the need-to-know facts.
Romonza also offers Eco Ocean Safaris throughout the year and Boat Based Whale Watching trips from July to October; here a qualified whale guide is on board while you observe the largest mammals on earth as well as dolphins, seals, sharks and various marine birds.
Another favourite is their Sunset Cruises that are on offer from November to April. The trip lasts for about two hours and you can bring a picnic basket and make use of their cash bar while the boat cruises past the Point, Seal Island, Hartenbos, Diaz Beach, De Bakke and the beautiful Santo’s Beach.
I will never get tired of admiring the wondrous blue ocean from the deck of their boat. To book your boat trip, email Charmaine at romonza@mweb.co.za or visit their website at www.romonzaboattrips.co.za. Don’t forget your camera!
