Stellenhof Guesthouse provides comfortable, family-friendly bed and breakfast accommodation in Addo – right on the border of the famous Addo Elephant National Park.
Not that the Addo Elephant National Park is the only thing to do in Addo. The area has an amazing array of things to do from visiting citrus farms to boat cruises on the Sundays River, sandboarding, zip-lining, and watersports.
Stellenhof Guesthouse dates back to the late 1800s, when it was established by Dougal McBean after being convinced by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick – the famous author of Jock of the Bushveld, to buy land in the Addo area.
Like many farms in the area, the property on which the guesthouse remains was originally intended to grow oranges and grapefruit – today, it’s a respected dairy.
McBean, who was known for his attention to detail and love for antiques, designed this Cape Dutch Homestead to ensure tranquillity and comfort even during the hot Addo summers.
In 1960, the farm was sold and changed hands three more times before being bought by the Groenhof family in 1999, in 2018 the Ferreira family bought the Farm, better known as Endulini Fruit in the citrus community. The Ferreiras started citrus farming in 1953 with land Pietie Ferreira inherited from his dad, the citrus land is situated in Patensie and the Sundays River.
The Ferriera family decided to share Stellenhofs rich history, beautiful African landscape and amazing wildlife with visitors to the area.
The Ferreira family newly renovated the guesthouse and the facility and decided to also bring back citrus farming to the farm. They have worked hard to ensure Stellenhof Guesthouse offers among the best farm-style Bed and Breakfast accommodation in Addo.

“The property is in the middle of a large, beautiful and well-kept park. There were big swings on the trees and springboks were romping in the back of the park. We were accommodated in a dome, which had a special flair. The whole area was secured by several gates, making it very safe. You could be on the whole site. The safari with was a great experience, The tour guide could tell us a lot of interesting facts in an unobtrusive way. He had a good sense of the time spent in one place and a good eye for finding hidden animals,” said Juliane
