The ROCK Design Quarter, Sandton, Johannesburg
My best friend, Colleen and I wanted a central place to meet one chilly autumn evening, and I suggested the ROCK, Design Quarter in the piazza as I knew they had an extensive menu with something to suit all tastes and I had been dying to give it a visit.
On entering the ROCK, the beautiful contemporary style restaurant immediately welcomes you.
The atmosphere of the ROCK, Design Quarter
It’s inviting “sit back and relax” ambience is enjoyed in an outdoor dining setting, but should it be more refreshing, the state-of-the-art awning will keep the chill at bay. The décor is understated, and everything about the ROCK feels beautiful, yet practical, with visual kitchens, large tables and comfortable seating.
There was live music in the piazza that night, and the restaurant was busy, and for a moment I thought I could have been somewhere else in the world.
What’s on the menu at the ROCK, Design Quarter?
With a symphony of different food to indulge in, the ROCK’s menu is enticing at each page turn. From plates of pasta to burgers, seafood and sushi, excellent steaks and ribs, as well as chicken and pizza, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Colleen’s choice was the “Excalibur”, which consists of deboned chicken thighs skewered on a sword and grilled on coal, basted with a rich mustard sauce. This also happens to be their signature dish, and it’s great!
I was more in the mood for seafood so I gave the prawn and calamari combo a try – which was delicious.
For an evening meal under the stars, a quick family brunch or a late lunch with sundowners, the ROCK ticks all boxes.
