Riebeek Vista, Riebeek Kasteel
Riebeek Vista is found at 8 Uitsig Close, Riebeek Kasteel. As the name and street suggest, this guest house is located part the way up the slopes of the Kasteelberg and offers a wonderful, north east facing view of the valley.
Although Riebeek Vista is located on the western edge of town, most of the main attractions are three blocks down the hill or along the slope of the mountain. You can park your car for the duration of your stay and do all your visiting on foot.
This five bedroomed guest house was designed from the outset as a place for guests to spend a few nights in comfort and happiness.
The architect knew that the key attraction of Riebeek Vista was the view. He thus designed a broad veranda with a glass balustrade so that guests could enjoy the vista while sipping on some of the regions wonderful wine.
Accommodation at Riebeek Vista
The bedrooms are large, spacious and perfectly proportioned. Exactly what you would expect from a custom designed guest house. The décor is minimalistic and, I would imagine, made so as not to distract from the beautiful view.
The artful mix of colour, large windows, high ceilings and careful use of cement, brick, wood and paint make the rooms very attractive.
The linen is crisp and white, the bathrooms sparkling and the facilities for your luggage perfect.
There are four large rooms and one smaller room, each on-suite, at Riebeek Vista. Two of the large rooms are downstairs and two upstairs. The upstairs rooms share a large veranda with an outdoor seating area. One of the upstairs rooms and one of the downstairs rooms has a large bath tub facing the sliding doors so that guests can enjoy the view in a hot bath on a cool evening.
The single smaller room is set away from the others and offers the most privacy.
Each room has a shower, tea and coffee facilities and air-conditioning.
Facilities at Riebeek Vista
Riebeek Vista offers guests a communal lounge area next to the pool, where there is a fridge, microwave, utensils and an outside braai – there are however no cooking facilities.
If you are a large family or a group of friends wanting to spend a weekend away together or attending a wedding at one of the nearby venues then I would highly recommend Riebeek Vista.
The guest house also has Wi-Fi, secure off street parking and a plunge pool.
If cooking is not your thing or at least not for your getaway stay to this lovely village, then never fear because roll down the hill to some great eateries.
What to do in Riebeek Kasteel
As I have mentioned in other articles, this is one of my favourite villages in South Africa. It has plenty of charm and has not yet been become overbearingly touristy.
The locals are friendly and helpful and a very pleasant time can be spent dining out, tasting wine and beer and admiring the artwork and creativity on show.
I would happily visit Riebeek Vista again and would highly recommend it as a base for a stay to this delightful village.
