There are six self-catering suites to choose from at Sunnyside Guest House, each one is uniquely decorated and spacious so that you experience the highest level of comfort possible. You can choose from the Sunrise, Sunbird, Sunset, Sunburst, Sunbeam and Sunshine Suites.

Families will enjoy a stay in the Sunrise Suite which comes with two large bedrooms; the main bedroom comes with a King-sized bed that can be converted to two single beds and an en-suite bathroom with an extra-large shower and separate bath.

The second bedroom comes with two 3/4 beds, a sleeper couch is available in the open plan lounge area for an additional child. The suite has a well-equipped kitchen, open-plan lounge, a second bathroom with a shower and TV with DStv.

The Sunbird Suite has one bedroom with a King-sized bed, two large sleeper couches in the open-plan living room, a compact kitchenette, a full bathroom with a shower, separate bath and a TV with DStv. There is a private outside seating area outside the bedroom.

Cute and cosy, the Sunset Suite has a main bedroom that comes with a double bed, an open-plan lounge with a sleeper couch, a well-equipped kitchenette, a private deck with tables and chairs, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a TV with DStv.

The Sunburst Suite is one of the superior suites and comes with a King-sized bed in the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom with an extra-large shower and separate bath, open-plan lounge area with two sleeper couches, well-equipped kitchenette, indoor braai and a TV with DStv.  A lovely seating area leads out from the lounge.

The Sunbeam Suite (1st floor) has small views of the ocean and comes equipped with a King-sized bed in the main bedroom, en-suite bathroom with an extra-large shower and separate bath, open-plan lounge with sleeper couches and a TV with DStv.

The Sunshine Suite, which is also on the 1st floor has small views of the ocean and comes equipped with a King-sized bed in the main bedroom, en-suite bathroom with an extra-large shower and separate bath, open-plan lounge with sleeper couches and a TV with DStv.

Two communal braai areas and a large swimming pool are available for the use of Sunnyside resident guests. You can enjoy a traditional South African braai under the stars with your family and take a dip in the pool to cool off during the summer.

There are five undercover parking bays where you can securely park your vehicle during your stay. Free Wi-Fi is also available from any of the Suites.

The suites are serviced on a daily basis and a laundry service can be provided upon request.

Don’t want to be separated from your furry friend? Sunnyside can accommodate small, well-behaved dogs upon prior arrangement at an additional cost so you can bring them with you during your stay.

Restaurants with a good mix of service, food and ambiance

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.

However, the best restaurants come with the best of service, food and ambiance.

Spas are the ultimate relaxation aid

How do you know when you have had a great spa experience?  The answer, of course, is when you doze off on the treatment table. 

Well that’s our theory anyway.  It also doesn’t take a grand location with enormous facilities for a spa to be really good

A small, personal spa that is owner run can result in the best massage you have ever experienced.  However, the grand spas in five star hotels offer unsurpassed facilities in an environment that just makes the stress in your shoulders and neck melt away before you even finish checking in.

Adventure!

You don’t have to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy an exciting experience.  In fact, what are commonly termed adventure activities usually have incredibly high safety standards and unblemished safety records.

Ziplining, bungy jumping and shark cage diving are all very safe.  It’s just that our mind tells us we are craaazzzzyyyy to be doing this.
