There are 15 rooms to choose from at Elegant Lodge Pongola, each one elegantly furnished and fitted with all the modern amenities you could possibly need. There are two luxury double rooms, five double rooms and eight single rooms available.

All rooms are equipped with a TV with DStv, air-conditioning, bar fridge, hairdryer, safe, and a coffee and tea-making facility.

The luxury double rooms come with an en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath; while the double rooms and single rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a shower only. The beds are fitted with fine percale linen to ensure you are completely comfortable during your stay.

Breakfast is not included in the tariff, but please book to enjoy a warm and filling meal to get you pepped up and ready to face the day ahead. Home cooked three course dinners can be arranged upon request for those who don’t feel like going out to eat.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the guesthouse so you can always stay connected. Secure and free parking is available onsite for your peace of mind. The guesthouse has its own lovely and spacious garden that you can explore and admire during your stay as well as a newly built modern function and conference centre with outdoor pool.

At the main lodge, you can sit in their spacious lounge area and enjoy some much-needed relaxation time. Watch one of your favourite sports teams on the TV, take up a game of pool or head on down to the courtesy bar and serve yourself a sundowner after a long day. Elegant lodge does not have a liquor license but the courtesy bar  has soft drinks available for your convenience. You can bring your own alcohol along.

There are a number of activities you can enjoy near the lodge during your stay, from playing a round of golf, fishing or bird watching.

You can play a few holes in the Pongola Golf Course which is right across the road from the lodge. The course consists of 18-holes and allows you to enjoy a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. If you are not much of a golfer you can also take a stroll through the greens and just enjoy the scenery.

The Jozini Dam is a mere 60km from the lodge, where you can experience a Tigerfish bonanza! The dam is the only one of its kind in South Africa where you can catch a Tigerfish. Tours and day trips to the dam can be arranged through the lodge.

To my mind a great restaurant offers three things – excellent service, great food and a wonderful ambiance.  Of these, service is the most important. 

No matter that the food is delicious and the setting delightful, poor service can ruin the occasion.  However, great service combined with mediocre meal and a plane jane restaurant can still be a pleasant night out.

We’ve eaten in restaurants that are really dirty but with incredible food and couldn’t help but give a rave review.  We’ve also hardly noticed what we ate because the setting was just amazing.
