Great food & great atmosphere at The Mexican

The Mexican

Situated in the heart of Old Town, in Jeffrey’s Bay, where surfing and sandy beaches reign supreme, rests the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner and cocktails with friends; The Mexican!

As the name suggests, The Mexican serves a wide variety of margaritas and traditional Mexican cuisine, which they have become famous for. They are ideally located right by Dolphin Beach, and have beautiful views of Da Gama Street when the lights come on at night.

They recently underwent renovations and now gives off a refreshing beach bar vibe. My friend and I loved the relaxed atmosphere of The Mexican when we arrived for dinner. Out table had the perfect view of the restaurant and was right next to the balcony, which offered a nice cool ocean breeze.

Enjoy some fruity cocktails & amazing cuisine at The Mexican

The Mexican
Cocktail anyone?

To get the evening started, we ordered some of their signature drinks. Since my friend doesn’t drink alcohol, she tried their famous Marilyn Monroe mocktail, while I enjoyed the Mermaids Orgasm cocktail.

My friend had never tasted Mexican food before, so she had no idea what to expect from. Their menu offers a wide variety of tasty treats, from pizza to burgers and salads – so if you’re not quite ready to handle the spicy Mexican cuisine, you don’t have to worry!

Seeing that we were in a Mexican restaurant, we had to try Mexican dishes. I ordered their chicken Chimichanga while my friend tried her first ground beef Burrito and Taco. Not only was our waitress very friendly, she was prompt and informed us that The Mexican offers different specials every day of the week.

Delicioso is the best word to describe out food!

The Mexican menu
A superb menu

My Chimichanga was delicious and had just the right level of spiciness that I could enjoy all the flavours while enduring the heat from my meal. My friend, who was new to Mexican food, was not prepared for her burrito and taco, but she still enjoyed the surprise.

The spicy food paired well with the fruitiness of our cocktails as we chatted and enjoyed the beachy atmosphere as the sun set.

My friend and I would definitely love to go back again and try the rest or their menu and one of their many unique cocktails! We’d definitely make sure to try some of their sweet desserts.
