Noted for its imaginative menu, excellent service and the fine dining experience in a casual atmosphere, Homespun by Matt has quietly become one of the top restaurants in the Mother City. At its location in Table View, you no longer need to venture into the Cape Town CBD to enjoy good food.
As their website explains, Homespun by Matt offers a unique adaptation of European cooking methods, influenced by Asian, local and worldly flavours.
This fine restaurant was established by Matt Schreuder after having spent several years in top Michelin-star restaurants across the globe. His intention is to take you away from the stress of the outside world when you step into his world – and it shows.
The restaurant is designed to calm one down with warm lighting, soft colours, fine décor, candles and the absence of brand advertising.
It’s not just the culinary delights and the attentive well-trained waitrons, but Matt genuinely takes a very personal interest in each guest. You can often see him doing the rounds chatting with both local and foreign patrons.
That they have attracted a sizeable international crowd speaks volumes about the high standards at the restaurant and the quality food coming out of their kitchen.
The Homespun by Matt menu is a standout!
As Matt points out, at Homespun their focus is to transform quality ingredients into exciting, craft dishes that deliver various textures, flavours, temperatures, aromas and colours for your enjoyment. Everything they serve before you is a treat for the senses irrespective of whether you dine from their unique Full Show Menu or their Set Menus.
You will notice the Asian influence is well-translated in the menu.
Add their impressive wine list or cocktail menu and you are set for a very memorable dining experience. The wines have been carefully selected from a wide variety of regions in South Africa to complement the dishes. You will discover some gems that our winemakers are producing!
Likewise, you should prepare to be surprised with their craft cocktails, which are made fresh on the day. Made from a wide range of spirits, Homespun is always exploring new flavours.
They have also recently started distilling their own Homespun Gin at the restaurant as they have a 1lt potstill.
Serving portions bigger than at high-class restaurants and at prices you will find at normal restaurants, Homespun by Matt offers the best of both worlds.
