Laslappies Lodges – Addo, Eastern Cape
Situated right on the doorstep of the Addo Elephant National Park is a collection of popular lodges that make up the Laslappies Lodges group. They are the first group of lodges to offer travellers an opportunity to choose their accommodation from a collection of different lodges.
Three Addo establishments – the Addo Dung Beetle, Kududu Guesthouse and the new Beyond Cui Bono, which are all located within easy reach of the famed Eastern Cape National Park, make up this amazing accommodation offering.
Each one of the Laslappies Lodges offers something unique to guests, so no matter which one you choose, you are sure to have an unforgettable experience. There are also numerous self-catering units available on request.
Accommodation at the Laslappies Lodges
The three Laslappies Lodges are conveniently located within a short distance of each other and offer a different experience and atmosphere.
The Kududu Guest House is a 4-Star accommodation that is hidden away in the Sundays River Valley and is located just 18km away from the Addo Elephant National Park. Kududu is situated on a working farm with a Buffalo and Sable breeding project also offering private game drives.
It has four luxury rooms and two standard rooms on offer as wells as two self-catering garden cottages.
“Our farm, known as Nooitgedacht, is measured to be 530Ha of which 70Ha is planted under a wide variety of Lemon, Navel and Valencia citrus trees,” describes Jako Visser.
“The Sundays River Valley is one of the biggest citrus production valleys in the Southern Hemisphere and we are proud to export about 20% of South Africa’s citrus. Our harvest time is mostly during winter and the season stretches from March to October each year.
“On our private nature reserve, we have quite a few different species of wildlife on the farm, including Giraffe, Waterbuck, Kudu, Duiker, Warthog, Zebra, Bushbuck, Nyala, Eland, Bush Pig, various bird species and breeding projects with our disease-free Addo Buffalo and Sables.”
At Kududu Guest House, you can follow one of our carefully marked walking trails through the bush and enjoy the thrill of watching Bushbuck, Kudu, Duiker, mountain Tortoises and a wide variety of bird life at close range.
Meanwhile, the Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm is a 4-Star accommodation offering that can be found on its own mountaintop in the heart of the Sundays River Valley. The Guest Farm is a mere 4km away from the Addo Elephant National Park. They offer five luxury chalets, three bush cabins and four Dung Beetle Suites.
Addo Dung Beetle’s unique feature is that the four Dung Beetle Suites are actually shaped like the Dung Beetle the Guest Farm is named after. Great thought actually making these Dung Beetle Suites a great space to relax in – even the light features are shaped to look like the veins of a Dung Beetle.
The newest addition to the Laslappies Lodges Group is the 4-Star Beyond Cui Bono Guest House in Addo. This Guest House is situated in the heart of the Sundays River Valley near the area’s citrus farms. It’s a mere 10 minutes away from the Addo Elephant National Park.
There are 14 luxury guest rooms on offer at Beyond Cui Bono – each one with its own unique style and design. A unique feature of Beyond Cui Bono is the unique artwork, which was created by the staff that can be found throughout the Guest House.
